Programs, Disposal Sites & Clean Up Dates
Compost Site
The compost site is located ½
mile east of Marquette Road on Vineyard Coulee Road. The site
is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is for leaves and
grass only. Leaves and grass need to be removed from
plastic bags.
Persons found dumping materials other than leaves and grass will
be fined.
Brush Site
Located on Vineyard Coulee Road
(½ mile east of Marquette Road) across from the city compost
site. The site is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30
a.m.-2:00 p.m., and on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m.-12:00
p.m. This site is
for brush and tree limb disposal only. Persons found dumping
materials other than branches, limbs, and trees will be fined.
Available to City of Prairie du Chien residents only.
Commercial businesses will be charged a fee for tree and brush
disposal.
Used Oil Site
Located at the City Street
Department, 625 East Washington Street. The site is for used
engine oil only. No dumping of fuels, kerosene, antifreeze,
water, paint, thinners, etc. Persons found dumping materials
other than used engine oil will be fined.
Spring Clean up
The Spring Clean-up is an
opportunity for residents to safely dispose of appliances,
brush, tires, and scrap metal at no charge.
The Spring Clean Up will be held
April 21, 2008 through April 25, 2008.
Monday – pick up will be from Blackhawk Avenue and north.
Tuesday – pick up will be south of Blackhawk Avenue and East of
Marquette Road.
Wednesday – pick up will be south of Blackhawk Avenue and west
of Marquette Road.
Fall Clean up
The Fall Clean-up is an
opportunity for residents to safely dispose of appliances,
brush, tires, and scrap metal at no charge.
The Fall Clean Up
will be held October 20, 2008 through October 24, 2008.
Monday – pick up will be from Blackhawk Avenue and north.
Tuesday – pick up will be south of Blackhawk Avenue and East of
Marquette Road.
Wednesday – pick up will be south of Blackhawk Avenue and west
of Marquette Road.
Snow Removal
The Street Department has a snow
plowing priority list. First to be completed are the 11.5 miles
of “snow routes,” the major roads through and around the City as
well as the main commercial districts, bridges and City airport . Second to be
plowed are the 56 miles of collector and local streets. Last to
be plowed are 7 miles of alleys as well as parking lots. |
