Community Service Officer

The Community Service Officer (CSO) is a non-sworn, uniformed employee whose primary duties are code and ordinance enforcement, parking regulation, animal control and motorist assistance.
The CSO also assists sworn officers with traffic control and direction at accidents and special events, and performs many other duties that do not require the expertise of a sworn police officer.

Canine Officer

Prairie du Chien's first canine officer was added to the force in 2008.  Canine "Aja" and her partner, Officer Heather Gokey, are currently assigned to evening patrol and have established an excellent record of accomplishment during their first year of service.

Going "Green"

The Prairie du Chien Police Department went "Green" in 2009 with the addition of an electric vehicle to the fleet.  The GEM car will primarily be used for special events, parking enforcement and directed patrol duties.

Zodiac Rescue Boat

The Police Department's 25 foot Zodiac rescue boat was acquired in 2009 from the 10-33 Surplus Property Program after having served for five years with the Naval Special Warfare Program in Little Creek, Virginia.  The Zodiac is shared by both the Police and Fire Departments as needed for rescue and patrol duties.
